چکیده

From a 4-hypercube colour space, spaces of the type hue-saturation-luminance are derived. The hue component may have the topology of a 2-sphere, a 2-torus or a 3-sphere, in several possibilities we consider.

Tetrachromatic colour space

We derive colour spaces of the hue-colourfulness-luminance type, on the basis of a four-dimensional hypercube I (I = [0, 1]). The hypercube corresponds to a tetrachromatic colour system, analogous to the three-dimensional RGB cube. In the first derived space the colourfulness is chromatic saturation while in the second one, colourfulness refers to the vividness of the colour, even if it is achr...

On Colour Spaces for Change Detection and Shadow Suppression

In this paper, common colour models for background subtraction and problems related to their utilisation are discussed. A novel approach to represent chrominance information more suitable for robust background modelling and shadow suppression is proposed. Our method relies on the ability to represent colours in terms of a 3D-polar coordinate system having saturation independent of the brightnes...

A 3D-polar Coordinate Colour Representation Suitable for Image Analysis

The processing and analysis of colour images has become an important area of study and application. The representation of the RGB colour space in 3D-polar coordinates (hue, saturation and brightness) can sometimes simplify this task by revealing characteristics not visible in the rectangular coordinate representation. The literature describes many such spaces (HLS, HSV, etc.), but many of them,...

Constructing cylindrical coordinate colour spaces

A cylindrical coordinate colour space (lightness, saturation/chroma, hue) is derived from an opponent colour space in the RGB space. It is shown how cylindrical coordinate colour models widely used in the literature are related to or can be reduced to the derived model, thereby contributing to creating a unified cylindrical coordinate colour model. In particular, the widely used saturation expr...
